IRIS certification is based on the ISO 9001 standard and on the internationally recognised ISO/TS 22163:2017 standard, which includes specific application requirements for rail industry. In order for the organisations to achieve IRIS certification the organisation shall:
- Be a legal entity or belong to a corporation
- Have an autonomous business management system
- Perform at least one IRIS activity: design, manufacture or maintenance
- The IRIS management system is required to be applied throughout the whole supply chain of rolling stock-related and signalling-related products
- Being located in a single site
- Have implemented a quality management system and fulfilled the requirements of ISO/TS 22163:2017 standard.
- Have documented information as per ISO 9001:2015 and ISO/TS 22163:2017. This includes, among others, a quality policy and objectives, Quality manual, procedures and process approach, work instructions, Risk management and Contingency plan, traceability records, change management records FAI report, etc.
