ISO/IEC 17043:2023, Conformity assessment – General requirements for proficiency testing – Accreditation
Conformity assessment : General requirements for proficiency testinghave been developed in order to build confidence in Proficiency Testing Provider both in the testing disciplines as well as in the calibration disciplines. As per the requirements of clause no. 7.7.2 of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 external quality checks need to be performed by laboratories engaged in the testing as well as calibration. There are 2 types of external checks are performed. One is called self initiated inter laboratory comparison and another and most important is participation in the Proficiency Testing Program. This standard is also refereed in the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 version for the PT Provider, indicating that the PT Provider must be accredited to ISO/IEC 17043. Proficiency testing is an important tool to define the quality and accuracy of the laboratory, who has taken participation.Hence the role of PT Provider becomes very important. Hence to ensure that the PT Provider is competent, ISO/IEC 17043:2023 is the standard system, which is having complete requirements for the PT Provider to comply. ISO 17043 Accreditation
ISO/IEC 17043 Accreditation is a procedure by which an authoritative body gives formal recognition of technical competence for specific Proficiency testing scheme in the discipline of testing and/or calibration.The ISO/IEC 17043:2023 standard is developed based on the ISO Guide 43. ISO/IEC 17043:2023 Accreditation is managed by International Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation Committee (ILAC) as well as Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation Committee (APLAC) Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRA). - Sampling: where samples are taken for subsequent analysis.
- Data transformation and interpretation: where sets of data or other information are provided and the information is processed to provide an interpretation.
